The timing is right |
Whatever else you want to say about electric motorcycles, and there are a lot of good things to say, as well as some not so good. But best of all, the timing is right for these bikes. They aren't going to need mechanics. And this will virtually eliminate the worst part of the industry. Already motor vehicle manufacturers are moving toward eliminating the dealer, and that is inevitable too. But first the mechanic.
It's not a good life. Potential mechanics are figuring this out and mechanics training schools are suffering with many closing their doors in recent years. A very tiny percentage of all motorcycle mechanics make more than what an unskilled person earns at Cosco, regardless of the amount of training or experience the mechanic has, and only the unusually dedicated stay at it for more than a few years because of this. The pay system mocks and abuses them. Warranty steals from them. And every department in the dealership enslaves them.
So it's time. Time to emancipate the dealer mechanic. The last few years I worked for someone else I tried to view the environment in the best possible light. I lived and worked to a professional code. But it was a fairy tale. And now electric bikes are poised to make all of that nonsense disapear. Good thing. And good timing.
