® The GTC CM100 inductive clamp multimeter

I like this meter. Suzuki had a factory one very similar to it a long time ago, and of course there are many clamp type multimeters out there, tons of them. Here's the thing though. This Canadian company's product is the only one I have found that reads up to 100ADC and down to 1mADC. I have looked for years, they aren't out there. The 100A capacity makes it good for electric starter troubleshooting, as well as being ideal for the lower current of charging systems, while the 1mA sensitivity is just what is needed for rectifier and other parasitic loss measurements. Plus it has the usual multimeter functions of volts. Neat. One thing though, its resistance function is limited to K Ohms. Well, good for spark plug caps, but not useful for stators and field coils. Of course, those things should be tested dynamically anyway. Other than that, I say enough about this tool. For example, the preferred way to measure charging systems is in amps, not volts. Doing so with a non-clamp type meter, though there are a handful of ways, is quirky and unintuitive for most folks. The clamp feature does away with all of that, making current measurements as simple as they could possibly be. This will encourage more folks to diagnose their charging systems the right way. I have no financial interest in this recommendation, only a helpful one.
