Probably, all the mechanics who remember how much car carburetors needed fettling to the degree that their passages had to be measured with calibrated wire, their moving parts adjusted to precise clearances to match machined thickness gauges, and the linkages tweaked by minute amounts of bending, are all passed on. No longer with us. But they did. Even American-made carbs were subject to this kind of maintenance.
