® Specialized 90 degree carburetor screwdriver

Although Honda offered a 90 degree screwdriver for adjusting its carbs pilot screws in the late 1970s (shown in the foreground at the bottom right), it was cable driven and therefore did not offer the feel of the gear driven types that would emerge later. Highlighted here is a very early aftermarket tool offered by a company no longer in business, actually meant for car carburetors but very good on Hondas. At the time of purchase I modified it by brazing on the correctly shaped screwdriver tip, and this has been my go-to 90 degree pilot tool ever since. Fortunately, there are many 90 degree tool choices, including other gear drive versions. Caution: Never attempt to use this tool on fasteners such as float bowl screws. It is not designed for that kind of torque and damage to the tool and the fasteners will result.
