Motorcycles are getting very computerized. Riding a 70s Honda and having taught modern motorcycle mechanics, the juxtaposition is natural. And amazing. Even stark. In a previous era we knew only mechanical igition advance, breaker points, incandescent lights, a single fuse, too little power to hurt you, a choke, 18 gauge wire, manually cancelled turnsignals, and leaky, recalcitrant carburetors. Now it's computers, sensors, autonomous risk management, multiple fuses and relays, seamless warmup and throttle, CAN bus, event recorders, and marvels unending. Things analog are receding into the horizon. |
