Though it doesn't happen all the time, it happens. The three connecting rods at the top of this photo are all #1 rods from a Honda CBX1000. They span maybe thirty-five years. If you needed a rationale for keeping that vacuum-controlled fuel valve in place, they are it, because hydrolock is what does it on the CBX. The rod at the bottom is from a Suzuki GSX-R1100. It had a different problem.
