This is why I try very hard to use only factory Honda cylinder base gaskets. All the more when it is a CBX1000 I am working on, as that engine's cylinder assembly is made in such a way that the gasket that fits it is extremely narrow and thus vulnerable to tearing and breakage.

This is a comparison of two cylinder base gaskets. The green one is aftermarket. The black one is OEM Honda. The misalignment visible in the picture is real. The gaskets are lined up on most of the holes and cutouts. Just not on this corner. I have seen this in so many aftermarket gaskets it's incredible to me that the stuff is still for sale.
