Begin by selecting the correct collet for the dowel. They are precisely sized and available in both Imperial and metric sizes.

Place the tool onto the stubborn dowel and give the tool a smart downward rap using the built-in slide hammer.

Afterward slide the hammer upward sharply to remove the dowel. Nice and clean.

A much better solution than poking, digging, pliers, etc. The Goodson tool allows the dowels to be reused.

The collets and the rest of the tool are made of hardened steel, unlike some of the alternative tools.
