It occurs to me that there is another way to look at motorcycle user forums. You know how guitar players can sit and mess around on the fretboard, not actually playing anything but disorganizingly going through riffs and melodic little things, mostly finger exercises and arpeggios and key and chord progressions? It's possible that one could view what user forums do as a lot like that. They're not really trying to help anyone; they're just riffing, shredding, exploring the spatial landscape. From that perspective then they shouldn't be criticized. Grasping in the dark, exploring the unknown, is what they are doing. It's not malevolent. It's not even incompetent. It's just what it is. Noodling.
