® Sealers

This is correct case and cover sealer, where a gasket is not being used. Note it is thin, also spread thin, and is not the kind of stuff that can ooze out when clamped down upon, which silicone based sealers will. Silicone sealer, even when properly used thin, still balls up and also produces flakes, both of which can migrate. This is the engine used to produce my SOHC Honda 750 head gasket and cam chain booklets.

I neglected in this article to point out the preferred compound for use on Honda crankcases, the stuff in fact that closely approximates the original sealer used by the factory. Here it is, Honda part number 08717-1194.
